Casting Foosbal man part 2
After my first experiment of casting foosbal man, I decidet to perfect the forms in order to meet the international standard of the competition.
This time, I used a lot more reference pegs in order to achieve more precision, optimized the feet to competition standard, and made a front and back molds, so that there is only a slide mark on the sides visible instead of the front middle as by the first experiment. This is also the only way to get both holes, the 16mm hole and the screw holes into it.
still, commercil available figures are injection moldet, look how they look
Here i smy desing - the wax positieve molds:

Machinable wax is ideal to mill the molds, since it gives you a perfect finnish on the Modela.
Notice a mistake a made again: on the left side you see the pegs with a nice radius, but they should be only on the right side. Molding and casting is thinking different ;-)
It was easy to take the PU (PMC-131) negatieve molds out of the wag models. Just dont forget to put a tiny vase of mold release spray on the wax molds, brush them over and put a tiny vase again. then wait half an hour bevor casting the PU.

After 16 hours curing, I could take them out fairly easy.
Again same thing, put a small amount of mold release spray on it, brush then off and a tiny vase again and wait for half an hour. I've casted the man with Smooth cast 325 (liquid plastic). This is a clear two component plastic which has a pot life of 3 minutes, and hardens out in 10 minutes. When you cast the plastic, you have to put the molds around the pole, and put a small vase of Vaseline on the pole, in order to get them off again. Liquid plastic is allways shrinking a bit, therefore this is important.
With just 1 drop of "so strong" black or red pigment, you get them colored quit good. See below.
You really need just 1 drop for this, too much of it results in a soft finish and the cast will never cure.

They have a robust feel, but yet have to be tested.
7 february - test results
They feel very stable and I guess they will never brake.
They could be to slippery but thats a matter of finding the right ball
