GET DESIRED

On Friday the 10th of October I conducted a street research of ways that youth wear objects on their body. I walked through as varied parts of Amsterdam possible. Starting with Centrum and then through Jordan, P.C Hooftstraat, de Pijp and ending in de Bijlmer. I tried to to document the most interesting things I saw with my camera.
We are not going to publish the pictures here, because many of them were taken without asking for permission ( That is how you get the good ones). But here are some main conclusions from the research:
-
Youth dress quite conservative in general. Most objects worn on their bodies fit within existing archetypes: bags, earrings, rings, necklace's, mp3 players etc..
-
There is almost as many expensive fashion logos to see in the poor neighbourhoods as the rich ones.
-
Out of 27 girls photographed, 10 were wearing big round earrings.
-
Highlight of the day was the girl who was wearing pink hair clips on her jacket.
The research is called “Get Desired” after a giant billboard poster that was hanging in a side street to P.C Hooftstraat.
