Lusciously Tempting Chocolate Cake
This is a recipe from the best desert book ever: Sweet Secrets, by Carine Goren.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup unsalted melted butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup sour cream
1 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup cocoa powder
Chocolate topping:
1/3 cup heavy cream
80 g bittersweet chocolate
Make the cake: Preheat the oven to 170 degrees. Mix butter, sugar, eggs, cream and sour cream. Sift in flour, baking powder and soda and cocoa. Pour into a cake baking pan and bake for 40 minutes until the cake is stable and somewhat firm, and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Glaze: Bring the cream to a boil, remove from heat and pour over the chopped chocolate to melt. Pour the glaze over the cake and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Serve at room temperature or heated a few seconds in the microwave.
