This is the original piece
This is an A3 laser of a 1mx1.7m cut paper 'tapestry'. I refer to it as tapestry because the original piece can be raised to create shadow projections. It's unrealistic to work with the original in a performance setting so I am lasering smaller pieces/slides which will allow me to take this storytelling performance 'on the road' in a car. It's essential to produce the set in miniature if it's going to travel. This cutting is miserably inadequate although it does have possible applications. Something went wrong from Live Trace to CorelDraw. Live trace could not make sense enough of my thousands of line directions and I don't know what happened after that. I will try again next week.
This is one way of creating a simple projection on the ceiling in the Fablab. The best lighting for projecting shadows is fire with mirrors with the shadow on a prepared screen of yogurt or paint depending on the desired effect; but this gives some suggestion of what to expect
I have been working with photographer Andrew Valkenberg to create silhouette images of myself and I am also translating these images for use as masks for live animation and silhouette animation
