Upcycling old textile as composite for a chair
How to make composite material from old textile.
In this project I am trying to find a suitable textile fibre to create a strong composite that can be used to make a chair body from.
Together with Lars Larssen there have been done some tests last week. The textiles were soaked in epoxy resin, to find out how strong they act as fibres.
First the epoxy and hardener were mixed properly.

Several materials have been wet out with resin (old jeans, burlap sack, old shirts).

The results of the tests have not been checked (the resin had to dry), I will do it this week.
Below you can see the results of some small tests that we did before. If you are interested in following this project, check elementsunited.com
