Heart rate reader
We have created a custom hart rate reader to be a part of the wearable prototype. It is meant meant to be clipped onto the lower part of your ear while you wear the head band. Unfortunately an ear lobe is not thick enough to get a stable reading, so this one only works on your finger tip.

A light sensor reads the light passing through the finger. As blood flows through, less light passes though the finger tip. This gives a varied signal that represents your heart beat. Also, the optical effect of illuminating a body part can become a nice feature on the Earables wearable.

The clip is designed to look like a natural part of the band shaped wearable.

A self made op-amp board amplifies the signal from the light sensor. The Arduino board converts the signal into serial signal. The plan is the to let the Arduino board trigger the a camera in the wearable when the users heart rate rises over a certain level. Then the user will have a ducumentation of his emotional highlights and downpoints through the day. Stressed, enthusiastic, angry and so on. This data could then be prossed by the pupil and a counselor together. The goal is to invite the pupils to reflect upon their own behaviour.
