using the Roland GX24
before starting you have to make sure that the file you have is in outlines.
how to make a convert a bitmap (jpg.tiff.gif. ......) to outline.
create a new blank file in Illustrator ( file-> new)
place the picture file in to the document (file -> place)
select the picture and open live trace (object -> live trace -> tracing options)

in the tracing options:
make sure that the mode is set on ”black and “white”
and make sure preview is switched on

by using the trashold slider you can determine the right contrast.


by using the path fitting slider you are able to determine the size of the smallest pice. make sure this is not to big.
when you are happy with the picture you can press trace, go to object -> live trace -> expand.
you file is now converted to vector.
setting up the plotter


enter the sheet from the back, by placing the lever down. and slide the sheet past the cutting line. and push the lever up. make sure that the pinch rollers are placed ad the fare left and right corners of the sheet. the pinch roller can only be placed in the with marked areas.


the machine will ask what kind of sheet it is, select this an press enter.
make sure that the pen force slider is 0. and hold down test for 3 sec. the machine will make a test. after controlling if the test is cut deep enough it’s possible to change this by pressing the force button and pressing the “>” button you can decrease on increase the force by using the “v” or “^” buttons press enter when finished.
sending the file to the plotter:
open file in ilustrator.
place the file in the bottom left corner.
open the cutstudio output dialog window-> cutstudio plug-in
press the printer icon.


a pop up will come up, press “cut”
