Tablet Jubileum

For the 15th anniversary of the WAAG we wanted to spice up the presentation of the various snacks. We decided to create a tablet of acryl with LEDs to give a mysterious glow to the tablet. The LEDs were to be placed half-way trough the tablet, and the toplayer would have a halfway cuttrough pattern, as to create the most light effect in the acryl.
When starting this project we wanted to make the tablet press-fit. This was way harder then it seemed, because of the tention of the material. I had done a lot of test, trying to find the perfect measurements for the press-fit. Unfortunately every time I assembled the parts, they broke.
Eventually I had a almost-press-fit tablet which needed some glue in the corners. As time was running out we had to use these tablets, to install the LEDs.
The LEDs in the tablets were placed on 2 rows of 8 LEDs each. They were generated by a 3V battery, which would keep the LEDs burning for at least 2 hours. The circuit was connected to a switch which insured that the tablet would be burning on the right moment of choice.

The LEDs are put halfway trough the tablet. This is to create the mysterious glow in the tablet. To secure the
LEDs we put some glue in the holes. Here is a closeup of the circuit.

The result is great, Thanks to everyone for the help!
