Currently I study architecture at the Academy in Amsterdam and since one year I am working on my master project. My project is placed in a district called '23 de Enero' in Caracas / Venezuela. The picture is taken in this district and shows modernistic social housing blocks, which were built in the 70s like all over the world. In between these blocks are informal houses called Barrio's in Venezuela, these were self built by the local population because there was and is still a big lack of social housing. This picture introduces the themes I am busy with and are the basic thoughts of my following research and models: big scale / small scale, formal / informal, modernistic architecture and public life in densed cities. During my design process I was finding a way through model making, especially I was using the material I produced in the Fablab Amsterdam. Without the Fablab Amsterdam I wouldn't be able to have such a productive research and I also wouldn't be able to find a design and to understand very quick formal things. Because the documentation of the following models are not an end product I hesitated for a longtime to document them. The beauty of them reveals to the viewer not immediate and are understood with the background of the whole process.
Check the documentation for the project process.
