In an attempt to learn how to use the vinyl cutter, I created (what I thought would be) a simple snow flake pattern. Little did I know, that there are some important considerations to take when creating your design. The mistake I made was by combining a bunch of shapes to create the appearance of a snowflake. I also thought the viny cutter would taken into consideration the width of my stroke.
1. First attempt at the vinyl cutter - a bunch of overlapping shapes that should be joined to form one closed shape. Otherwise, the cutter will read all the lines from each shape and cut them. (Look under "Snowflake Ex1" attachment)
2. Proper outline created for my snowflake. Created by direct selecting all the shapes I wanted to combine and going to Object > Path > Outline Stroke.
There you have it, a snowflake!
