When I was experimenting with the laser cutter, I was impressed by the burning capacity of birchwood.
Birchwood is a very light coloured material, so when you burn it, the contrast is very strong.
I decided it would be cool to apply this technique to a face. Or better, to several faces.
Therefore I created an image of the current interns at the Fablab Amsterdam together with the manager,
and called it the 'fablab fantastic four'.
I used Adobe Photoshop to edit the images, but you can also use Adobe Illustrator for it.
On a rainy thursday afternoon, I decided it was time to change the fablab wall logo that was hanging on the hallway. I discussed this with the well-respected manager Alex, and to my great pleasure he agreed.
Previously, the wall signature looked like this:

I wanted to use birchwood for it, and I wanted to cut it with the laser cutter.
The only restriction I had was that I wanted to use the shape of the current logo, because was already
connected to the wall.

1 Introduction
During my internship at Fablab Amsterdam, I came across a device that fascinated me a lot. It

Fab Lab
On december 9 2010, NL EVD International, The Indonesian Division of Economical Affairs, granted our proposal to establish a new Fab Lab in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This marked the start of a 3-year international collaboration between Waag Society (NL) and HONF; - House of Natural Fiber (IDN).
Workshop voor middelbare scholieren tijdens PICNIC Young. Onder begeleiding van creatieve en technische begeleiders maken leerlingen een interactieve muziekinstallatie in het Fablab. Voor het maken van de 'muziekmachine' gebruiken ze sensoren en een softwareprogramma, Max MSP. Met verschillende sensoren kun je het volume of de snelheid van de muziek aansturen, er geluiden door heen mixen of van nummer wisselen.
