Bauhaus Chess

Bauhaus ChessFinally we have a Ultimaker in the Lab. So I decided to print the famous Bauhaus Chess designed by Josef Hartwig in 1923. Of course I am not the only one who had this idea, and therefore I could find all the figures free to download from Thingiverse
The proces of 3d printing I found pretty straight forward.

Check the documentation for some important notes.

3D Printer

The Ultimaker is a low cost DIY 3d printer using FFF technology (Fused Filament Fabrication) with thermoplastic extrusion. It's a great tool to make fast 3d prototypes in various colors.

Scanning Small Object-Monkey Face

Image:
I have made a precize scan with the Modela MDX-20 of a monkey-puppet-face, which I want to use for rapid prototyped jewelry pieces, such as brooches or a necklace.

To use the Modela MDX-20 you need to open the programm Dr. Picza. To get a detailed 3d drawing I have set the y axis to 0,2 as well as the x axis to 0,2. The total scanning time was over 14 hours, but the scan came out fine!

RepRap Masterclass

RepRap 1.0 Darwin

The RepRap is a do-it-yourself 3D printer, capable of reproducing (most) of it's own parts. The name RepRap is deducted from Replicating Rapid Prototyper, designed by Adrian Bowyer, professor at Bath University, England. Instructions and all necessary data are available completely free of charge to anyone who wants to build a personal 3D printer.

Intake manifold, 3D printed and aluminum casted

For my tuned classic motorbike I needed a custom made intake manifold. I started off measuring the length and angle needed for the part, then created it in a 3D application
