And here it comes the second episode of this ambitious project: the first wood sample!

To mill out this piece took quite some time. About 3 hours for the roughing of each side and about 6 hours for the finishing of only one side (the back side was quite flat, so we decided to save some time by skipping the finishing).

As an intern at Fablab I was asked to fabricate a box, where to store my belongings for the duration of my internship here. The lab is not too big and things tend to get spread everywhere making a mess, so, having a personal storage space, it is handy for everybody.

The exercise was also aiming at having a quick kick-off machines learning process.

This tutorial is for setting up your file for the usage in
Deskproto. At FabLab Amsterdam we use Illustrator CS3, the images you see are screen captures from Illustrator CS4 so the image may differ.

There are several ways to setup your file we start with the most
simple one.

Lets say you want a square cut out of 200x200mm. We begin with a
new file ( CTRL + N or CMD + N ) the size should be larger than the
shape you want to cut out, but this can be changed later through file
→ document setup ( CTRL + SHIFT P or CMD +SHIFT + P ).

Next to all the research we try to do in various fields concerning clean energy and the likes, I figured it is also important to do something else... As long as it conrtibutes to the gathered knowledge here.

This project is not about anything you need, or something that solves worldwide issues. But it will learn you a lot about handeling materials, and machines.

In this candy session we tried to make a mold for lolly pops.

We were aware of a system currently used, whereby the lollypops were made by placing a coil of candy into a small cooking tin, placing another tin on top, pressing down and then inserting the stick.
