The machine cuts strokes on bot sides of the stroke. So if your object has a stroke of 2mm the machine cuts 2 lines 2 mm apart. For small details or text this can result in a shredded sticker.

Tracing in Adobe Illustrator
Project: Storage Board
This is a tutorial of the ‘tracing’ option in Adobe Illustrator. The option comes in handy when you want to create a design which resembles the original image as much as possible. The created design can then be used for total different purposes then the original object.
I used the tracing option for the recreation of the working tools of the Amsterdam Fablab in Illustrator.
This tutorial is for setting up your file for the usage in
Deskproto. At FabLab Amsterdam we use Illustrator CS3, the images you see are screen captures from Illustrator CS4 so the image may differ.
There are several ways to setup your file we start with the most
simple one.
Lets say you want a square cut out of 200x200mm. We begin with a
new file ( CTRL + N or CMD + N ) the size should be larger than the
shape you want to cut out, but this can be changed later through file
→ document setup ( CTRL + SHIFT P or CMD +SHIFT + P ).
