For my third year's collection at the Royal Academy of The Hague (fashion department), I made high heeled ankle boots, with the leather fully covering the heels and the platform sole. I used a wooden last to make the patterns and handmade wooden blocks for the platform sole and high heels. I made a design for the leather and used the laser cutter to realise this design. The project was a very interesting experience; it was great to combine the craft of hand-made shoes, with the technology of the laser cutter.

For my collection that I showed last January during AIFW in club Trouw Amsterdam, I wanted to combine fine silk fabrics with Plexiglas shapes so that they created robotic-like people together.
these forms, we have cut with the GE Spirit Laser cutter
and it took us 2 full days working on it because of the small details that it has, so we had to put the laser at a relatively slow speed to go through the material for a proper cut.
we had 4 plates of 35x55 cm white Plexiglas and 4mm thick
first we made some tests to see on what speed and power he would cut the best;
A one piece bathing suit.
Take a stretchy fabric ( preferably a fabric specially for bathing suits.)
Make your own bathing suit design and fold the fabric before lasering.
And you have a bathing suit out of one piece of fabric.
Details can be added on later

For my graduated project I decided to
experiment with textile laser cutting.
I wanted to experiment with latex, leather
and silk, Plexiglas and wood. I make my owen design at illustratorCS3 and save
de document as illustrator 8. You can open your file in the laser cut software.
Engraving Latex: be carful with latex,
because it easily melts. Power 28, speed 75,ppi 400
